The New York Yankees are one of the original eight baseball teams of the MLB. They play in the AL East, known as one of the toughest division in baseball for years. Most of this is due to the Yankees constant success as well as their rivals’ efforts (the Red Sox). The Yankees have made the playoffs for 13 consecutive seasons, the longest streak at the moment. They are “in it” every year, although they haven’t been able to win a championship for 7 years now. The team has begun to take a new approach, building the skills of their younger players instead of trading for the veterans. They hope that this will give them the success they desire.

2008 is the last year the team will play at the historic “Yankee Stadium”. Yankee tickets are in high demand this season as the edifice will soon be torn down. The Yankees will move down the street to a highly anticipated new stadium known as New Yankee Stadium. The future looks very bright for the esteemed franchise due to the new stadium and resurrected farm system. There is a lot of young talent on the team, as well as some of the best veterans in the game such as Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez. The franchise has always been packed with big names including some of the greatest hall of famers ever such as Babe Ruth, Joe Dimmagio and Lou Gehrig. The New York Yankees are the most valuable and most successful franchise in all of American sports and their current state shows that they will be able to continue adding to their many accolades in the coming decades.
